Planting Seeds for the Harvest

September ushers in the beginning of the fall harvest season, and here at Living Church of Five Mile, we are continuing to plant seeds for the end-time harvest we know is coming. Throughout the month, we saw those seeds being planted through prayer, worship, testimony, outreach, and the preaching of God's Word.

🙏 Becoming Intercessory Prayer Warriors

Pastor Danny has been teaching on how to become an effective intercessory prayer warrior. Pastor reminded us that you can tell inroads are being made because the spiritual warfare has intensified.

We have learned so much about this much-needed gift and calling. Prayer matters, and as we continue to stand in the gap for our families, our church, our community, and the lost, we believe God is working even when we cannot yet see the results.

The harvest begins with seeds—and many of those seeds are planted in prayer.

❤️ Celebrating 31 Years

On September 9th, we celebrated the 31st wedding anniversary of Pastor Don and First Lady Virginia!

We are incredibly blessed to have this power couple leading by example and living their lives on fire for Jesus. We pray the Lord continues to bless their marriage, ministry, and the many years ahead.

Happy 31st Anniversary, Pastor and Sister White!

🍩 Donuts with a Grownup

September was a little sweeter with our Donuts with a Grownup Sunday!

What better way to start a Sunday morning than sharing a delicious donut with some of our favorite people?

We cannot thank our wonderful community bakers enough for blessing us with so many delicious donuts. We appreciate everyone who helped make the morning special and everyone who came out to enjoy it with us.

🎶 “Thank God for All of It”

If you haven't listened to our September 13th morning service, we encourage you to go back and hear it.

Sister Kayla Purdin shared an original testimony song titled “Thank God for All of It.” Born from some of life's hardest seasons, the song is a reminder that even when we don't understand the storm we're walking through, we can still trust the One walking through it with us.

We believe this testimony will speak to many who are facing some of the harshest storms of their lives. Through the hurt, the questions, and the unknown, God is still worthy of our praise.

🌍 Miracles in Malawi

Sister Heather Meyer and Sofia Cason returned to Five Mile to share testimonies from their recent mission trip to Malawi, Africa.

We heard about miracles, lives touched, and souls saved through the work God is doing there. What a blessing it is to see young people willing to answer the call of God and make an impact for His Kingdom!

Their testimonies reminded us that the harvest isn't limited to our own community—the fields are ready all around the world.

⛪ Back to Church Sunday

Our Back to Church Sunday brought several visitors through the doors of Five Mile, and we were so thankful to have each one of them worship with us.

Pastor delivered a powerful message on “Seeking the Face of God,” and following service, our visitors and church family enjoyed a meal together.

We pray that every seed planted that Sunday will take root, grow, and eventually produce a great harvest. Sometimes we may never see what one invitation, one conversation, or one welcoming smile accomplishes—but God does.

🪨 “My God Is Faithful”

You never quite know what to expect when Sister Wendy Purdin asks for volunteers to help illustrate one of her sermons! This time, her bag of props included hula hoops, rocks, and chains.

The rocks represented the troubles and burdens she had endured throughout the previous few months. As those burdens accumulated, the weight became heavier and heavier.

Then the hula hoops became a yoke.

She demonstrated that when we become yoked together with Jesus, we don't have to carry the weight alone. He helps us carry the load.

Her testimony could be summed up in four powerful words:

“My God is faithful.”

Whatever you are facing and however heavy the load may become, He remains faithful.

🛍️ Our Annual Fall Yard Sale

September also means it's time for our Fall Yard Sale, an event our community has come to look forward to each year!

Pastor receives plenty of calls asking about it—and it's easy to understand why. Between the yummy baked goods, homemade soups, Shirley's famous hot dog sauce, and bargains galore, there's always something worth stopping by for.

But this event is about so much more than finding a bargain.

The money raised helps fund our church's benevolence ministry, allowing the blessing of the yard sale to continue throughout the year as we help meet needs within our community.

Thank you to everyone who donated, worked, cooked, baked, shopped, and helped make another yard sale possible!

👣 “When God Calls”

We were excited to welcome Pastor Jonathan Noe to the Five Mile pulpit for the first time. He came highly recommended by our longtime friend Bishop Donnie Hill—and Pastor Noe certainly lived up to the recommendation.

He delivered a powerful message titled “When God Calls.”

His message challenged us to rise up and do what God has called us to do. As he preached about holy ground, he took off his shoes to drive the message home. Because of a previous injury, going barefoot causes him pain, yet God kept him as he preached, showing no sign of that pain while urging us to fulfill our calling.

His message reminded us never to take the gifts, talents, and calling God has placed upon our lives for granted.

When God calls—answer.

✝️ “Corruption in Disguise”

Rev. Sam Byrd wrapped up September with a sobering and timely message titled “Corruption in Disguise.”

He challenged us to stop being afraid to share the truth of the Gospel. We cannot allow fear of what others may think or say to keep us silent.

We must be willing to take up our cross, follow Jesus, stand for truth, and continue toward victory.

🌾 Praying for an Abundant Harvest

As September comes to a close, we are reminded again of the harvest.

Seeds have been planted. Prayers have been prayed. The Gospel has been preached. Testimonies have been shared. Visitors have walked through our doors. Needs have been met. And God's people are continuing to grow.

Now we trust God with the increase.

Until next time, have a blessed month! As our farmers enter this season of gathering what has been planted, may the physical harvest be abundant in their fields—and may the spiritual harvest be even greater in our churches.

The fields are ready. Let's keep planting. 🌾🙏
