We blinked and August was gone—but what a month it was at Living Church of Five Mile! While southern Ohio saw a record dry spell, the Spirit was pouring out in abundance within our church walls. God moved in powerful ways, and we are excited to share just a glimpse of what He did among us.

A Powerful Start 🔥📖

We opened the month with a visit from Bishop and Overseer Job Ikemson, who delivered two powerful messages: “Healing is the Children’s Bread” and “Clinging to the Lord in These Last Days.” His words stirred our faith and set the tone for the weeks ahead.

Back-to-School Blessing Sunday 🎒✂️🍎

One of the highlights of August was our Back-to-School Blessing Sunday. In partnership with Most Hope Ministries, we provided backpacks and school supplies to children in our community. Reverend Taylor Jimenez went above and beyond by recruiting three hairstylists who generously gave their time to ensure every child had a fresh haircut for the new school year. One young girl received her very first professional haircut that day—a moment that touched hearts and left a lasting impression.

The love, generosity, and selflessness of those who gave their time showed Christ’s heart in action.

Young People Rising Up 🙌🎶👧👦

God is doing something incredible in the young people of our church.

Little David Hutchens shared his very first piano performance, playing “Amazing Grace”—his dad’s favorite song. 🎹
Our youth sound team has stepped in faithfully, making sure every service runs smoothly—even while rocking a baby to sleep! 👶🎚️
Sister Maelyn Gregory, one of our youngest preachers, has been powerfully encouraging us to press in and reach heaven. 🗣️🔥
Brother Jacob Dixon and Brother Sam Byrd both delivered anointed messages, igniting us with a call to fresh fire and renewal. 🔥🕊️

Sam and his wife Hannah also dedicated their daughter Eliora to the Lord. 👨‍👩‍👧 Their unwavering commitment—whether in teaching, running sound, or serving wherever needed—has been a shining example of faithfulness.

Baptisms and Commitments 💧✝️🙌

This month, five people were baptized, and one officially joined membership. Sister Ashley Gregory took up membership, while Brother Doug and Sister Theresa Waldron, Karen McClanahan, and Penny Schafer recommitted their lives to Christ through baptism. Brother Storm also gave his life to the Lord and followed it with baptism, laying down the old man and rising new in Christ. Heaven surely rejoiced with us! 🎉👑

A Call to Deeper Faith 🕊️💡🙏

Our Associate Pastor, Danny Hutchens, continued teaching on the challenging but life-changing topic of “An Unoffendable Heart.” Brother John Pike—who just celebrated three years clean and walking with Jesus—offered a powerful insight. He explained that those who try to offend are simply trying to put a spotlight on you so their own faults remain hidden. Instead of reacting, let that spotlight shine Jesus. 🌟✝️

Pastor Don also reminded us that “Suddenly happens”—we must always be ready. ⚡ Pastor Danny concluded the month by urging us to “Lay it before the Lord like King Hezekiah did.” He reminded us that our struggles are not problems, but mysteries God will solve in His timing. 🕰️🙌

Looking Ahead 📖⏳🙏

Sister Kristy Joo has challenged us to a 90-day Bible reading plan, and Sister Jennifer Hutchens has called us to Friday nights of prayer throughout September. When the church unites in prayer and the Word, mountains move. 🏔️✨
