October: A Month of Surrender

🌱 As we step into a new season, we can’t help but look back with gratitude at everything God has done in our church these past two months. From worship nights to rallies, baptisms to bonfires, prayer meetings to ladies’ gatherings—God has been moving in powerful, undeniable ways at the Living Church of Five Mile.

🙌 Raising Up the Next Generation

One of the greatest joys this season has been watching our young people step into their calling. Pastor Don has faithfully mentored a strong group of young ministers who are now boldly following in his footsteps—preaching with fire, truth, and faithfulness.

This month, we heard from Associate Pastor Danny, Rev. Sam Byrd, and Rev. Taylor Jimenez. Their growth is a testament to our Pastor’s investment in the next generation. Sister Jennifer Hutchens also shared a word that was burning on her heart—a call to true revival that comes through surrender, purity, and obedience. She reminded us that revival is sweeping the nation, and God is inviting His people to be a part of it.

🙏 Friday Night Prayer & Revival Atmosphere

Our Friday night prayer services continue to deepen in intensity. The altar has been full week after week, and lives are being changed. Pastor Don even joked that our water bill has increased from all the baptisms—but what a wonderful problem to have! Every baptism testifies that God is moving among us.

🌶️🏆Harvest Party, Worship Night & Chili Cook-Off

We closed out October with our annual Harvest Party on the 31st—a night full of joy, fellowship, and worship around the fire.

From roasting marshmallows to singing under the stars, the evening was topped off by Pastor Danny preaching a powerful message on removing every appearance of evil from our lives. Just like in the Book of Acts, we cast out anything that held us back and literally threw it into the fire. It was a symbolic and spiritual moment of freedom.

Congratulations to Jennifer Kuyper, who took home the chili cook-off champion title this year!

💐Ladies Ministry: A Season of Growth and Connection

Our ladies had an incredible month filled with fellowship, ministry, and spiritual growth.

  • They traveled to William’s Corner Church for LACE Fall Ladies Day, where Rev. Taylor Jimenez taught one of the breakout sessions.

  • Later, the ladies hosted a Friday Night Ladies Service at home with Sister Julie Laporta from Community Family Church bringing a timely message on the “power of positioning.”

  • Their bi-monthly book club continues to grow into a strong and supportive sisterhood.

Under the leadership of Sister Kim Gregory, our Ladies Ministry has truly flourished.

 🏛️ Youth & Community Involvement

The Purdins—Jeremiah and Kayla— took a group to The Charlie Kirk Freedom Rally right here in town. Then Pastor Danny loaded the van right back up and took the Youth to The Southern Rally in Fonde, KY, where they were able to visit the original church built in 1917.

Our young people are learning, growing, and witnessing firsthand what it means to stand firm in truth.

Another highlight was Sister Hannah Byrd leading a group to the Life Chain in Georgetown on 10/26. Seeing children and teens boldly holding signs for the unborn was a touching reminder of what it means to defend those who cannot defend themselves.

🔥A Church on Fire

So many moments this season have reminded us of who we are as a church—a body that is hungry for God, passionate about worship, and determined to live set apart. From revival services to quiet moments at the altar, God is shaping us into a people refined by fire and filled with the Holy Spirit.

May the flame continue to burn in every home and every heart. May we surrender anything unlike Jesus. And may we shine brighter than ever before for the glory of God.

Great things are happening at Living Church of Five Mile—and even greater things are still ahead.
